This is my go to recipe for cornbread for many year. I get requests from from friends and family all the time. I find it cooks best by creating two pans of cornbread from it – one regular sized (9”) and one small pan (4”). It comes out a bit crispier and less cake like.

This cornbread looks amazing when baked. Both times I made it it was so dry it was inedible. I did use a 22 inch cast on pan. Next time a 10 inch. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly. Any advice? Thanks

Great recipe – though I did sub a few things. Cut butter in half and used olive oil to make up difference, used half & half & plain yogurt instead of buttermilk (as that is what I had on hand)…and no cheese to cut back on fats. It was delicious, moist, and held together well. Even with these changes it was very yummy addition to New Years Day food traditions & will definitely be making it again.

Should have listened to my instincts but instead I followed the recipe – 1 tbsp of kosher salt rendered this bread completely inedible. Waste of time and ingredients, it went in the trash!!!!
