Amazing! I made with whole milk and butter. Served with blueberries. I didn't even need syrup! I'll be making these frequently. Since going gluten free I struggle to find recipes that aren't starch heavy. Waffles this good with a single ingredient like oats?!? That's witchcraft. Gimmee more!

Holy moly! I made them this morning for my son and he absolutely went crazy over them. Followed the recipe and they came out exceptional. He needs a little more iron in his diet and this was perfect! We have a mini waffle maker so I definitely got more out of the mix! Thank you!

I am sorry to say that these did not turn out well. I followed the recipe exactly as written, using the ghee option rather than coconut oil. My son liked them (toddler aged) at least, but I thought they came apart very easily and while they had a good flavor, I prefer my brown rice flour recipe I have. We were looking for a new recipe as I ran out of an ingredient for that recipe and saw good reviews, and wished we could offer one as well. I let the batter sit while our waffle maker heated and everything, but the batter was quite thick. I do love a lot of your other recipes and will continue using your site, but this one will not be one of them.

Hi Traci, I'm glad you enjoyed the waffles! Steel cut oats should work fine to make oat flour, but they do need longer to blend. It's possible they just needed a bit more time. You can find all my tips for making oat flour in this post.

The taste of these is out of this world! The rise was very minimal and they didn't get crisp, but I didn't even care. I used the mini waffle maker and ate these with cream cheese on top, yummy! I have steel cut oats on hand, so that's what I used to make the flour. Maybe that's why they didn't get crisp or rise much?
