In reply to Yumi Redifer. Hi Yumi, I haven't tested it with adding hummus, but I did test it with simply omitting eggs, and they are more delicate, but still held together.

In reply to Yvonne. Hi Yvonne, I'm so glad you enjoyed the burgers! You'll find I have many recipes for lentils if you want to try more. As for the yams versus sweet potato, yes you can certainly use them interchangeably. Most of what you will find in a US grocery store are actually sweet potatoes, even if they are labeled as yams.

I recently signed up to receive your recipes.
I had a jar of lentils in my cupboard for goodness knows how long, and didn’t want to throw them out.
So, I made your lentil burgers. O my, they are so tasty, and held together beautifully. The burger recipe stayed the same, and I made a dressing from Greek
yogurt, mayonaise, ketchup, mustard and green Mexican hot sauce. I forgot the avocado, but they were still delicious. I served them with potato wedges and mixed vegetables. These are a keeper.
I live alone and have more in my freezer to enjoy.
I will certainly make your veggie burger with sweet potato. I have yams and was wondering if these could be substitutes for the sweet potato.

Out freaking standing! The store bought veggie burgers are expensive and terrible compared to these. Not so easy to make, but super worth the effort. Finally something I can take to a BBQ and feel like I belong. Thank you sooooo much for the effort and direction!

Great recipe!

Tip: I used the Trader Joe’s ready to eat steamed lentils. One package is 2.5 cups, so you can dump the whole thing straight into the processor.

I also don’t bother grating the carrot- just peel it, chunk it, and blitz it in the processor prior to adding the other ingredients. The patties are ready to go before my oven is preheated :)
