What you described is exactly what my grandma, mom and I do for strawberry shortcake. However sometimes I make a compote as indicated in this recipe for other things. I think both are appropriate for different needs.

Grapes are not my favorite. But our store ran a summer sale on some lovely sweet black grapes–large and seedless. We cut them in half. We used balsamic vinegar (apple cider vinegar when we ran out of that), a bit of honey, and a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom seeds. It was magical over vanilla ice cream. I can still taste those grapes. Yours are recipes I remember and go back to. They are fun and educational because they are flexible and informative.

I have used this recipe at least 4 times in the last 2 months, my children love Greek yoghurt with compote and granola for breakfast and I love knowing exactly what’s in their compote and they love it! I also make the granola which is so simple too, highly recommend this recipe it’s so easy to do especially on a time crunch and with frozen berries it’s a breeze

Perfection! I doubled the recipe and added cinnamon with the fresh peaches and honey. So easy. Very tasty. I mashed about half and left some chunky. I tasted some with a drop of vanilla and decided to add that too. OMGosh, next level. Serving tomorrow with a sour cream coffee cake. I’m sure it will be devoured. Thank you.
