In reply to Kate. I do this all the time with frozen broccoli! It's not quite the same texture as fresh brocc, but I still like it a lot. I just saw Joe Yonan suggests preheating the pan so the water on the frozen broccoli evaporates more quickly, but I haven't had a chance to try that yet.

Really delicious! I didn’t have any onion or garlic powder so I roasted thinly sliced red onion. Didn’t have any pepper flakes so used chipotle powder. I had to restrain myself from eating all of it myself. Definite winner.

So, we have used frozen broccoli for this multiple times. My children love it and call them broccoli chips. We cook it a little longer so they are crispy and cheesy.

Can the smashed broccoli recipe use frozen broccoli florets instead of fresh broccoli?

I love vegetables but broccoli has never been a favorite. I thought I’d give this recipe a try and it was FANTASTIC!! Matter of fact, I liked it so much that a few days later I bought more broccoli and froze individual portions! I plan to try this with other vegetables … maybe cauliflower or brussels sprouts.
